Franciscan Athletics 2021-22 Year in Review

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio –  The 2020-21 athletic campaign was one of the most challenging in Franciscan Athletics History. The COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of all athletic competitions in the fall semester. The Barons in conjunction with the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) returned to play in the Spring Semester with all 20 athletic programs competing. Playing against conference competition only, Franciscan immediately made an impact in their first year in the PAC, winning two conference championships, earning two conference player of the year awards, having six teams qualify for postseason play, and earning dozens of All-Conference Awards. The Women's Tennis Team made their fifth trip to the NCAA Tournament while Women's Track & Field Standout Alison Bryant became the first female track athlete to qualify for the NCAA Championship. The Men's Cross Country Team won the first PAC Championship in school history, with Liam Galligan earning Runner of the Year Honors. Baseball returned to Steubenville for the first time in a decade, with Joshua Costello becoming the first player in school history to win an ABCA Mid-East All-Region Award. These were just some of the outstanding performances that made the 2020-21 a year to remember.
