Roanoke Earns Trip to ODAC Finals

Roanoke faced Shenandoah with a trip to the Championship game on Sunday on the line in day two of the 2022 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Baseball Final Weekend. After giving up a first-inning run, the Maroons built a 3-1 lead. A Roanoke miscue would allow three Hornet runs in the bottom of the seventh. Roanoke tied the game, 4-4, in the top of the ninth, but Shenandoah got a two-out, walk-off single to center to hand the Maroons their first loss of the tournament. Lynchburg would dispatch of Bridgewater and await the Maroons in a rematch of the Roanoke 15-3 win to start the weekend. A second inning run put Roanoke in front early. A triple and fielder’s choice would tie the score and both teams would go scoreless the final four innings. In the first extra frame, the Maroons used a hit by pitch and free pass to put a pair of runners on base. After an out, a ground ball would lead to a double play chance. Lynchburg threw the ball away and Roanoke took a 2-1 lead. The Maroons would allow a hit but closed out the 10th for the 2-1 win.
