[Baseball] #12 Drovers Crush #6 Stars In OKC

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Sunday afternoon, the No. 12 ranked University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (16-7, 6-3 SAC) rebounded well with a dominant 11-1 victory at No. 6 ranked Oklahoma City University (23-2, 8-1 SAC). The Stars won twice by large margins on Saturday, but the Drovers were determined to avenge those losses on the Stars home field. The win also snapped the Stars' 18-game win-streak.Over the last 14 matchups between USAO and OCU, each team has won seven times, dating back to April 5, 2018.USAO's offense was efficient and consistent on Sunday, scoring in every inning except the first, in route to the run-rule victory in eight innings.  The Drovers scored twice in the second inning, as well as in the third, prior to pushing their lead to 5-0 in the top of the fourth inning. Science & Arts struck for one run in the fifth and once in the sixth, prior to scoring a pair of runs in each of the final two innings of play. The Stars manufactured their only run in the bottom of the seventh inning.Josh Harrel (JR/Cashion, OK) was superb on the mound, pitching 7.2 innings and allowed just one earned run. Harrel fanned seven batters, while surrendering just five hits, as he improved to 3-1 this season.As a team, the Drovers used 13 hits to produce their 11 runs, and eight different players recorded a hit in the win. Peyton McDowall (JR/Cibolo, TX) led the Drovers offense with a 3-4 performance that included a double, a homerun, three runs scored, and three runs batted in. Luke Lewis (SO/Ft. Cobb, OK) concluded 2-3 with a walk, a double, one run scored, and he drove in a run. Luis Pelayo (SR/Santa Cruz, Aruba) finished 2-4 with a run scored, while Colton Bensch (SR/Mustang, OK) went 2-5with a RBI.Will Hoch (Oklahoma City, OK) was very productive at the dish, going 1-3 with a trio of runs scored, as well as a run batted in. Jake Womack (SR/Chickasha, OK) closed 1-3 with a run scored and a RBI. Joey Pena (SR/Mustang, OK) concluded 1-4 with a single, while Brandon Shumway (SR/Chickasha, OK) went 1-4 with a run scored.  WHAT'S NEXT?The Drovers will open a three-game series at Central Christian College on Friday, March 25 in McPherson, Kan.
