[Baseball] 2020 Baseball and Walter Earn First Wins

Just as you read it in the subject line, the Men's Baseball team kicked off the 2020 spring season with a win in game 3 (11-6) over San Diego Christian.  It was also a very special night for first time college head coach Cody Walter.  Coach Walter earned his first win as a head coach and did so in his first series at the helm.  Both he and assistant coach Mathew Troupe believe highly in this group, and are preaching confidence and moral fiber.  The culture seems to be the key to this group.     It was the offense that really began firing in game 3 for the Sea Beggars, as the ball started flying off the bat.  In games 1 and 2 of the series it was San Diego Christian with the offense and the win, but the Sea Beggars answered that call in game 3.  It was also the pitching that came in clutch in game 3 to help the team earn the win.  Entering the game was #5 Alec Ortiz, and shutting out the hawks in his time on the mound.  He then exited the mound banging his chest and leaving the hawks without an answer to his off-speed pitches.  After the game head coach Cody praised both Senior Alec Ortiz and Senior #11 Ryan Redford for his defense and key at bats.     We are just getting started and already a few really nice highlights from this years team.  Follow us on instagram at Sea Beggar Athletics on twitter @seabeggarnation and on facebook.
