[Baseball] Cougars Struggle Defensively in Double-Header at IWU

MARION, Ind. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University baseball team faced Indiana Wesleyan for a double-header on Friday.The Cougars started out fairly fast in game one with a quick run in the first inning. The Cougars lengthened their lead to two in the top of the fourth. Indiana Wesleyan would cut the lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth. After the Cougars started struggling defensively, IWU tied the game at two a piece in the fifth and scored seven runs in the next two innings. The Cougars could not regain control and fell in game one 9-2.The second game finished with the same score of 9-2. The Cougars held their errors in check, however the Wildcats outhit the Cougars and pulled away quickly to take control of the game. The Wildcats jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead after scoring a run in each of the first two innings. The Wildcats would score two more in the fourth and fifth innings and add three more in the sixth. The Cougars finally got on the board in the seventh inning with two runs off the bat of Jake Glover, but it would not be enough as IWU claimed game two and took both games of the double-header.
