Baseball Drops Opening SUNYAC Tournament Game

Oswego, N.Y. – Competing in the SUNYAC Baseball Tournament for the first time in 10 years, the Plattsburgh State baseball team (21-18, 7-11) fell to No.11 Oswego State (29-9, 16-2) 15-2. After Plattsburgh was the first team to get on the board in the top of the first, the Lakers outscored the Cardinals 15-1 the rest of the way to get the tournament win.

Despite the lopsided score, the Cards were able to accumulate 13 hits over nine innings but left 13 men on base. Steve Messerschmitt (Fishkill, NY/Carmel) and Conner Gonzalski (Cicero, NY/Cicero-North) each had three hits on the day, with Messerschmitt driving in a run and Gonzalski picking up the only extra-base hit with a double to left.
