[Baseball] HOMERUNS DOOM PILOTS IN 10-6 LOSS TO USAO

LSUS baseball dropped a neutral site matchup to the USAO Drovers 10-6 today in Arlington, Texas. The Pilots surrendered four homeruns as they lost to the 15th ranked Drovers. Shreveport's record drops to 12-11 with the loss. The Pilots return to Shreveport for a four-game series with Southwest starting Friday. HOW IT HAPPENEDUSAO jumped on the board immediately as Pilots' starter Kevin Miranda gave up a leadoff homerun. LSUS would answer in the bottom half of the inning when Kody Kolb drove in Payton Robertson with a double. The Pilots would take the lead in the bottom of the second when Jaylund Johnson reached via walk, stole a base and then scored on a Josh Wunnenburg sacrifice fly. USAO would be gifted a run in the third when the Pilots committed an error to even the game up 2-2. Things would start to unwind for Miranda and the Pilots in the fifth inning as the Drovers pushed two runs across to take a 4-2 lead. Jaylund Johnson woud get one of the two runs back as he singled to drive in Ryan Major. At 4-3 in the seventh, things would get out of hand for the Pilots with two outs. Trent Sholders was one strike away from retiring the side but served up a two-out, two-strike homer that would lead to a four-run inning. USAO would add another run in eighth to push it to 9-3. The Pilots tired to mount a rally as they scored three runs in the bottom of the half. Johnson and McNicholas hit back-to-back doubles before Kody Kolb added another double, Ultimately, the rally would fall short as the Pilots fell 10-6. PLAYER OF THE GAMEJAYLUND JOHNSON – Jaylund was only retired one time as he finished 2-3 in the game with two walks, also. He hit a double with one of the two hits and also stole two bases. Jaylund crossed the plate twice and drove in a run.
