[Baseball] Tigers Steal Game One of Doubleheader, but Drop the Series Against Fontbonne

Mount Pleasant, IA – April 19, 2019 – The Iowa Wesleyan baseball team wrapped up their series against the Griffins this afternoon at the Mapleleaf Athletic Complex.  The Tigers surprised Fontbonne with a walkoff, 5-4 win in game one, and gave them a tough run in game two before falling 11-7. In the opening game, Iowa Wesleyan jumped out to a three run lead with the help of two hits and an error.  Chazz Brown (SR/Chicago, IL) drove in the first run with a single to right field. Bases were loaded when Fontbonne's pitcher threw a wild pitch, and Nick Salas (SO/Pipe Creek, TX) took advantage by scoring the second run of the inning.  Brown put the Tigers ahead 3-0 by crossing the plate after Joseph Mitchell reached by an error. The Griffins cut the IW lead to one run in the top of the second inning.  Iowa Wesleyan answered with a run of their own in the bottom half, moving the score to 4-2.  Antoine Miller (FR/Melbourne, Australia) led the inning off with a double to left field, and Connor Martin (FR/Fenton, MO) followed with a bunt for a single to give IW two runners on.  Miller would come in to score when Jacob Leonard (JR/Aurora, IL) grounded into a double play.
