Bunnell Deals, Sim and Peraza Homer in One-Run Loss at UC Irvine

San Diego baseball (14-16-1, 7-5 WCC) staked itself to an early lead on Tuesday night against UC Irvine (19-10, 5-7 Big West) but could not hang on to secure the win, suffering a taut 3-2 defeat at Anteater Ballpark despite home runs from Kevin Sim and Angelo Peraza and a dominant performance on the mound from Jack Bunnell. Sim got the scoring started in the top of the second with a towering solo home run, effortlessly driving a 0-2 fastball the other way to give the Toreros an early 1-0 lead.
