Cardinals Fall in 14 Inning Marathon to Close Season

MARION, Ill. – The William Jewell baseball team put up the battle of their season on Saturday afternoon but fell 11-9 in 14 innings to third seed Maryville in an elimination at Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament. The Cardinals rallied in the bottom of the ninth to force extras and nearly pulled off another rally but came up just short in a contest that lasted nearly five hours. Jewell finishes the season 30-23 overall.
