Gurevitch Walks Off Broncos in 13-Inning Thriller

A pair of home runs from Ariel Armas combined with four electric extra-inning frames on the mound from Alex Schrier set the scene for Jack Gurevitch to step up to the plate and deliver a walk-off single in the bottom of the 13th inning, giving San Diego baseball (31-13, 15-4 WCC) a thrilling 6-5 win over Santa Clara (21-21, 8-8 WCC) on Friday night at Fowler Park. The opening nine innings of play featured four lead changes and two ties, as the Toreros scored once in the first, once in the fourth, and three times in the bottom of the sixth — all courtesy of a three-run shot to left field from Armas — before the Broncos ultimately knotted the game up at 5-5 in the top of the ninth inning with a solo home run that sent Friday night's conference crusade into extra innings.
