Late Rallies Fall Short as LVC Sweeps Messiah

The Messiah baseball team rallied late in both ends of a doubleheader on Tuesday against the Lebanon Valley Dutchmen, but were unable to complete the comebacks as the Falcons fell by scores of 3-1 and 10-9. The Falcons trailed 3-0 entering the seventh in Game One, but scored one run on a Ryan Friend double and put two in scoring position with just one out. The Falcons were unable to plate another run with a strikeout and a groundout ending the game. The nightcap of the doubleheader featured more of the same with the Falcons trailing 10-7 heading into the bottom of the seventh. A two-run single from Jarrett Gordon brought the Falcons within one at 10-9, but with the bases loaded and no outs, Lebanon Valley got a foul out, strikeout, and a fielder's choice to end the game.
