NATM Blog | How Athletic Training Changed My Life

There is a huge misconception of what athletic training truly is and what we as athletic trainers do for our athletes. Many believe that we are simply personal trainers who work with specific athlete's in order to improve their athletic performance. That is only a small portion of our job. Our main focus is the health and wellbeing of our team and we are in fact healthcare professionals. We are typically assigned a team, sometimes more, and it is our job to make sure that they are taken care of in regard to injuries and overall health. We don't always get credit for our job, and most of us are okay with that, because that's not why we do the job. We do this job because we love our athletes and we enjoy the journey of watching athletes evolve over the years, not only in the way of their athletic performance, but them as people as well.
