OVU Baseball Announces 3rd Annual Lead-Off Dinner

Vienna, WV – In what is becoming an exciting tradition, the Ohio Valley University Baseball Team will host its third annual "Leadoff Dinner" at Grand Pointe Conference and Reception Center in Vienna, West Virginia. The guest speaker will be former Major League player Sid Bream whose twelve-year career included playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Pittsburgh Pirates, Atlanta Braves, and Houston Astros.  During his career, he compiled a .264 career batting average and was always considered to be one of the best defensive first-basemen of his era.  Sid played in four consecutive National League Championship Series; one while as a Pirate in 1990 and 3 more after singing as a free agent with the Braves.  He also got to play in the 1991 World Series against the Minnesota Twins.  In 1992, Bream had the most iconic moment in his career where slid into home, scoring the winning run in Game 7 of the 1992 NLCS to beat Pittsburgh (affectionately called "the Slide").  They would go on to lose the World Series that year to the Toronto Blue Jays.
