Richards to take on familiar foe

It's an AL West reunion for veteran right-hander Garrett Richards, who faced the Astros 15 times as a member of the Angels. He posted a 2.99 ERA in those 15 outings. Richards takes the ball Friday night as the Padres open a three-game series against Houston at Petco Park at 6:10 p.m. PT, live on MLB.TV. The Astros will counter with right-hander Lance McCullers Jr., son of the former Padres reliever who spent four seasons in San Diego.
