Shamhart’s Gem Sends Titans Past Firebirds

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University baseball team used a complete-game combined shutout from sophomore Cole Shamhart (Oak Park, Ill.-Oak Park River Forest) and senior Jacob Cyrus (Glen Ellyn, Ill.-Glenbard South) to blank Carthage College, 4-0, at Horenberger Field Tuesday evening, April 23. The duo combined for 17 strikeouts as IWU improved to 22-9 on the year and 11-3 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin. Carthage saw its record dive to 20-10 overall, 8-6 in league play.
