TU Shut Down by #11 Knights

COCHRAN, Ga. – The Thomas University baseball team came into Stuckey Field with high hopes for victory, but an early deficit, missed chances and runners left on base became the Night Hawks' downfall in a 13-1 setback to #11 Middle Georgia State Tuesday evening at Stuckey Field.

TU (17-20, 6-9 TSC) connected six times while recording three errors, despite going 1-2-3 in four of the seven innings.  Redshirt Junior Caleb Rogers (0-2) gave up eight earned runs in six hits while also recording four strikeouts in three innings pitched.

The Hunter Green & White would see its lone run scored in the third inning, thanks to a solo blast from Freshman Luis Torres to cut MGA's lead to 4-1 at the time.

Down 10-1 in the sixth inning, Thomas appeared to take advantage of a tired Hunter Varnedoe and saw batters on base due to walks, but the Knights were able to escape a jam after making the third out off of a flyout in foul territory.

The Night Hawks will look to rebound at home this weekend against #8 Keiser in a three-game The Sun Conference series.  First pitch is set for Friday at 1 p.m.
