VMI Lacrosse's Gottmann helps rescue 10 people from avalanche

LEXINGTON, Va. – When VMI Lacrosse's Erik Gottmann took a family trip to Austria, witnessing an avalanche was most certainly not something he anticipated, but that's exactly the situation Gottmann, his brothers and friend found themselves in on December 25. Moments after witnessing an avalanche while on the slopes, the group sprung into action, saving all 10 people that were stuck on the mountain.
