Wheaton baseball team drops high-scoring battle to Calvin University

Carol Stream, Ill. — Two days after a thrilling 7-6 win over the University of Chicago Maroons, the Thunder baseball team returned to Lee Pfund Stadium for a hastily-scheduled non-conference game against Calvin University. With inclement weather in the forecast forcing Wheaton's weekend series against UW-Stout to be called off, the Thunder moved quickly to take advantage of Thursday's playable conditions and secured a one-off against the visiting Knights. The Michigan team started fast by tallying six runs in the first two innings this afternoon before holding off a ninth-inning comeback attempt by the hosts to earn a 12-10 road win. Today's result improves Calvin's record to 9-7 while dropping Wheaton's season mark to 5-7.
