Wheaton baseball team falls to #20 Augustana in home weekend opener

Carol Stream, Ill. — Saturday is Senior Day for the Thunder baseball team, but the celebrations belonged to the visitors this evening as the Augustana Vikings topped Wheaton, 8-1, to clinch an outright regular season conference title. The 20th-ranked team in the country is enjoying a stellar campaign that has seen them lose only two CCIW games this year, and they came in to Lee Pfund Stadium today knowing that a victory would secure hosting rights for the upcoming CCIW Tournament. Wheaton took an early lead over their favored guests, but the Vikings pulled away for good in the sixth inning and walked out with the road win.
