[Baseball] Barons beaten in Hattiesburg

Hattiesburg, MS – The Barons competed on Friday, March 6th and Saturday, March 7th against William Carey in three games away. The Barons went 0-3 losing to William Carey with the scores of 0-10 in the first game, 2-3 in the second, and 1-2 in the third. Game One: The game started off with William Carey scoring 3 runs and the Barons unable to answer back with a strikeout by looking, a strikeout by swinging and Matt Colins flied out to center(8). No runs were scored by both teams in innings 2-5. In the bottom of the sixth, William Carey scored 6 runs. Then in the eighth inning William Carey scored their final run finishing the game at 0-10.Game Two: To start the second game William Carey strikes first by scoring one in the first inning. The second inning was scoreless, but the Barons were quick to answer in the top of the third by Taz Worrell being hit by pitch. Chris Starling was struck out swinging and Taz Worrell was caught stealing (2-6). Matt Collins reached on a walk. Seth Graham reached base on Dawson Ivey's misplayed grounder, and Matt Collins advanced to second. Ben Harris singled to right-center, Matt Collins Scored, Seth Graham advanced to third before the side was retired. William Carey was unable to score in the bottom of the third. Innings 4 and 5 went scoreless. In the bottom of the 6th William Carey scored 2 runs gaining the lead over the Barons. In the top of the 7th the Barons scored one by Brandon Hinkson being hit by pitch. Taz Worrell singled to the infield, Brandon Hinkson advanced to second. Chris Starling bunted and reached on a base hit, Brandon Hinkson advanced to third, Taz Worrell advanced to second. Matt Collins struck out looking. Seth Graham struck out swinging. Ben Harris singled to shallow right, Brandon Hinkson Scored, Taz Worrell advanced to third, only for the side to be retired. William Carey did not hit in the bottom of the 7th.Game Three: Innings 1-3 were scoreless the start game three. In the top of the 4th Barons lead through Chris Starling, who reached base on a misplayed grounder, then Chris Starling advanced to second, on a stolen base. Zach Wilson reached on a walk. Ben Harris singled to shallow center, Chris Starling Scored, Zach Wilson advanced to third. William Carey was unable to answer back to the Barons keeping the lead. Inning 5 was scoreless. In the bottom of the 6th William Carey tied the game by scoring a run. The game stayed tied through innings 7-9. In the bottom of the 10th inning William Carey takes the win by scoring one. The Barons will play three games again on March 13th and 14th at home against Loyola University coming from Louisiana. written by: Keerston Hambrick
