[Baseball] Barons Drop Series to William Carey University

Mount Vernon, GA — The Brewton-Parker Barons played the William Carey Crusaders in a conference match-up.  In game one, the Barons struggled offensively, as they were outhit and lost 12-1.  The solo RBI came from Zach Wilson and his homerun.  The other three hits came from Phillip Collins (JR/McDonough), Eduardo Castillo, and Jackson Smith (SO/Bartow).  Aaron Glen threw the first inning with a strikeout and not giving up a single hit, Trey Jones (JR/Baxley) would come in for the second and also have a strikeout.  Tyrus Cook (FR/Lake Butler, FL) would also come in for an inning and Jacob Johnson (JR/Griffin) would finish the last four innings.  Game two was much better defensively, as the Barons kept William Carey to 4 runs, but still left the final score at 4-1.  Taz Worrell (JR/Lake Butler) would go 2 for 4 and the other hits would come from Eduardo Castillo, Benjamin Harris (FR/Crystal Lake, IL), and Zach Wilson.  Once again, a solo RBI, this time, coming from Benjamin Harris.  Not only did he have the only RBI, but Harris would also be the starting pitcher, going 5 innings with 8 strikeouts.  Adrian Comas (SR/Tampa) would come in for relief for four innings with 5 strikeouts.  Game three came down to the ninth inning as the Barons put up 5 in the 8th to tie it up.  However, William Carey scored one to pull ahead and leave the game in a 7-8 loss for BPC.  Phillip Collins would go 3 for 5 and Benjamin Harris would go 2 for 4 with a double, homerun, and 3 RBIs.  The remaining hits would come from Taz Worrell, Jordan Rahn (FR/Rincon), Malik Germany, and a homerun from Austin Mealor (FR/Guyton).  Worrell, Rahn, and Mealor would also each be responsible for an RBI.  Mackenzie McDowell would throw the first 2 innings and would be replaced by Austin Visocchi in the third, who also went about two innings.  Tyrus Cook would come in and, finally, Trey Jones would finish the game with 5 strikeouts and only giving up 2 hits.  Barons will have a couple days off and then take on Middle Georgia State University on April 23rd and 24th. written by: Sadie Rusteika
