[Baseball] Barons Sweep Edward Waters College

Mount Vernon, GA — The Barons Baseball team competed Friday and Saturday against Edward Waters College in 3 games at home. The Barons went 3-0 beating Edward Waters with a score of 7-6 in game one, 7-5 in game two, and 8-0 in game three. Game 1: The Game started off with Edward Waters scoring 2 runs and the Barons scoring 1 run. In the second inning Edward Waters scored another run. The Barons Went on to score 3 runs in the third inning. The fourth, fifth, and sixth innings were all scoreless. The seventh inning both teams brought in runs, Edward Waters brought in 2 and the Barons brought in 3. No one scored in the eighth inning. In the ninth inning Edwards Waters scored 1 run, but it was not enough. The Barons won 7-6. The team was led by Chris Starling with 2 hits, 2 runs, and 1 RBI. He was followed by Matt Collins and George Boyd with 1 hit, 1 run, and 1 RBI each, Taz Worrwll with 1 hit and 2 runs, Carnelius Smith with 1 run, and Seth Graham with 3 hits and 2 RBIs. Game 2: The second game started off with a scoreless first inning. In the second inning Edward Waters scored 1 run, while the Barons put up 7 runs. After a scoreless third inning, Edward Waters scored 3 more runs in the fourth inning, and then 1 more in the fifth inning, But all these runs were not enough. The Barons pulled off the 7-5 win in Game two. The team was led by Zach Wilson with 2 hits, 1 run, and 2 RBIs, and Ben Harris with 1 hit, 1 run, and 1 RBI. They were followed by Matt Collins and Seth Graham with 2 hits and 1 run each, Payton Nobles with 1 hit and 1 run, and Taz Worrell and Carnelius Smith with 1 run each. Game 3: The Third game started off with the Barons taking a 2-0 lead after the first inning. The next three innings went scoreless. In the fifth in the Barons expanded their lead by 4, making the score 6-0. The Barons continued to expand their lead by scoring 2 more runs in the sixth inning. The Barons were able to keep Edward Waters from scoring in the seventh inning, making the final score 8-0. The team was led by Zach Wilson with 2 hits and 2 runs, Matt Collins with 1 hit and 2 runs, and Ben Harris with 1 hit, 1 run, and 4 RBIs. They were followed by Jackson Smith with 1 hit, 1 run, and 1 RBI, Payton Nobles and Taz Worrell also scored 1 run each.The Barons Baseball team will be back in action on Friday February 28th and Saturday February 29th in an away series against Stillman College. written by: Rhett Harris
