[Baseball] Barons Win Series Against Shawnee State University

Mount Vernon, GA — The Barons would win the first game 5-0, wonthe second game 5-0,andlost the third game 10-2 against Shawnee State University from Ohio.  Ben Harris started on the mound for BPC, he had another stellar outing going 7 innings with 4 hits and 13 strikeouts.  Adrian Comas (SR/Tampa) would come in for relief and go two innings with no hits and 2 strikeouts.  The game started off slow offensively for both teams, but the Barons were able to score first and hold the Bears to zero.  Matt Collins led at the plate going 2 for 3, while Taz Worrell (JR/Lake Butler), Jordan Rahn (FR/Rincon), and Zach Wilson would each have an RBI.  Jackson Smith (SO/Bartow) would hit a homerun which would bring in the last two runs for the Barons to seal the win.  In game 2, both teams started off aggressively offensively with runs scored in almost every inning.  Mauri Miller (FR/Lilburn) led for the Barons with 2 hits, one run, and 2 RBI's and Ben Harris would hit a two-run homerun, accompanied by Taz Worrell's 2 for 4 appearance at the plate. Trey Jones (JR/Baxley) would pitch 4 innings and 2 strikeouts, while Roberto Urena (SO/Loganville), Austin Visocchi, and Charles Dopson (SO/Mcrae) would each come and not giving up a single hit between them.  Game three did not go as well for the Barons as they fall 10-2 as the Bears took over offensively and outhit the Barons.  Eduardo Castillo would drive in the lone RBI on a double in the first inning and doubles from Ben Harris and Jackson Smith would appear in the third and fourth innings, respectively.  Ty Cook started on the mound going 2 innings and Mackenzie McDowell (FR/Thomasville) would come in during the third, each would retire with three strikeouts.  Jacob Johnson (JR/Griffin) would come in during the fifth and Aaron Glenn (JR/Atlanta) would finish off the game, together they allowed one hit and no earned runs.  The next game for the Barons will be February 26 against Marian University at home.  written by: Sadie Rusteika
