[Baseball] Baseball Falcons Come Up Just Short vs. No. 3 USAO

WICHITA, Kan. – The No. 3-ranked University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma Drovers slipped by the Friends University Falcons 4-1 in a non-conference matchup today (Mar. 10) at Westside Athletic Field.Friends starter Eric Lindsay (SR/Cambridge, Ontario) sit the Drovers down in order with two strikeouts over the first two innings before three consecutive walks and a sacrifice fly by Ian Laureano in the third put USAO on top.Jacob Coogan (SO/Broomfield, Colo.) then came on for the Falcons and kept it a one-run game with 3.2 scoreless frames and four strikeouts.  Matt Contreras (SR/Friant, Calif. ) followed Coogan and struck out a batter of his own to strand a pair of runners in the seventh.But the Drovers struck in the eighth to expand their lead as an RBI double by Andres Romero capped a three-run frame to make it 4-0.In the bottom of the ninth, the Falcons got on the board on a two-out RBI single by Isiah Perez (JR/Larned, Kan. ) that plated pinch runner Evan Skelton (SR/Larned, Kan.). But reliever Ricardo Valez closed out the win for the Drovers with a strikeout.Perez finished 2-of-4 at the plate for the Falcons (14-13).Lindsay went three innings with one run allowed, while Blake Robinson (SO/Clearwater, Kan. ) pitched a scoreless ninth for Friends.  Austin Eggleston (SR/Arlington, Texas) struck out one batter and allowed two earned runs in the eighth.Adam Moraga got the win with a scoreless 7.1 innings and 10 strikeouts for the Drovers, who have now won 16 straight to improve to 18-1 on the season.The Falcons will next begin a three-game KCAC series at home vs. York College starting with a single tilt Friday afternoon (Mar. 13) at 3 pm.
