[Baseball] Baseball Outscores Peru State, 11-9

Doane Baseball picked up an 11-9 win over Peru State on Tuesday, picking up their 4th win of the season. The Tigers out-hit the Bobcats, 14-8, for the game and pounded three home runs.Peru State opened the scoring with two runs in the 1st inning. Doane tied the game in the 3rd inning on a two-run double by Joe Osborn (FR/Hickman, Neb.). The Tigers took the lead in the 4th inning with three runs. Andy Theiler (JR/Arlington, Neb.) hit a two-run home run followed by a solo blast from Lukas White (SO/Castaic, Calif.).The Bobcats came back with six runs to take an 8-5 lead going into the bottom of the 5th inning. Aaron Mason (SR/Omaha, Neb.), Tanner Gettman (SR/Kersey, Colo.), and Theiler had RBI hits in the inning to give the Tigers a 9-8 lead. Doane added two runs in the 6th inning on a two-run home run by Osborn. Peru State scored a run in the 9th to cap the scoring.Osborn was 3-for-5 with two runs scored, four RBI, two doubles, and a home run. Theiler was 3-for-5 with a run scored, three RBI, two doubles, and a home run. White, Jaryn Nakamoto (SR/Aiea, Hawaii), and Mason had two hits apiece.Jackson Stensgard (SO/Maricopa, Ariz.) started for Doane, going 3.0 innings and allowed two runs (one earned) with four strikeouts. Christian McCown (JR/Diller, Neb.) went 1.0 inning, allowing four runs while Jake Johnson (SO/Chandler, Ariz.) allowed two unearned runs in 0.1 inning. Patrick Mortensen (SO/Center, Colo.) recorded two outs and picked up the win (1-0). Sam Hewitt (FR/Omaha, Neb.) threw 2.0 innings, striking out three. Jerrad O'Malley (JR/Yutan, Neb.) pitched the final 2.0 innings, allowing one run with two strikeouts to pick up the save (1).Next up for the Tigers is a trip to Texas to face Saint Thomas on March 6.
