[Baseball] Doran Homers Twice in 6-2 Win for SXU over St. Francis

Joliet, Ill. – Senior infielder Patrick Doran (Evergreen Park, Ill./North Carolina Central/South Suburban/Evergreen Park) slugged two home runs and senior infielder Declan Smyth (Evergreen Park, Ill./North Central/Evergreen Park) also homered to lead Saint Xavier University baseball (13-16/5-3 CCAC) to a 6-2 triumph over University of St. Francis (Ill.) to conclude their three game series in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action Tuesday afternoon at Duly Health and Care Field in Joliet, Ill. Junior pitcher Julian Vargas (Tinley Park, Ill./Tinley Park) posted his second win of the season (2-4) after going 6.0 innings with five hits, one run, a walk and two strikeouts. Junior pitcher Caleb Ziehr (Rockford, Ill./Rockford Lutheran) recorded his first save of the season by getting a fielder's choice groundout with two outs and the bases loaded to end the ballgame.
