[Baseball] Eagle Pitching Staff Dominant In 3-0 Victory Over Lyon College

Batesville, AR – The Eagles took on Lyon College in a non-conference match-up Tuesday evening and came out on top 3-0.  With the win, TAMUT improves their record to 17-11 overall and idle at 9-3 in RRAC play.  The Scots drop to 15-9.  Next up will be a road series at LSU-Alexandria this Friday at 4PM.  The two teams will face-off in a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 12PM.  The Eagle pitching staff was lights out, combining to limit the Scots to just four two hits in the contest while striking out seven.  Michael Passariello (SO/Paradise, TX) picked up his second win of the season tossing five innings allowing only one hit on 58 pitches.  Mark Lopez Jr. pitched the sixth and seventh innings also allowing just one hit. Matt Slowik and Jordan Izzo (SR/Horatio, AR) took care of the eighth and ninth innings with Izzo earning the save striking out all three batters he faced.  TAMUT scored all of their runs in the third inning.  Dakota Leopold (SO/Seguin, TX) singled to start off the inning and scored the first run of the game on a Brandon Riley (FR/Monroe, LA) double.  Mike Williams (FR/Brunswick, OH) followed suit with a double plating Riley for a 2-0 Eagle advantage.  Season RBI leader Giancarlo Mijares knocked in Williams for the final run of the game, good enough for the 3-0 victory.  Leopold and Nicholas Tamez (SR/Tomball, TX) led the Eagles 8 hit attack with two hits apiece.  Mijares and Kyle McMullen (JR/Dixon, CA) both contributed singles.  For more on Eagle Baseball and all things Eagle Athletics, log on to tamuteagles.com or follow us on social media outlets at TAMUT_Athletics.  Go Eagles!!
