[Baseball] Eagles Fall To Generals In Series Opener

Alexandria, LA – Baseball dropped the series opener versus LSUA 11-6. The Eagles record moves to 17-12 overall and 9-4 in RRAC play.  The Generals improve to 12-8,10-3.  The two teams will play a doubleheader tomorrow with game one slated for 12PM.  TJ Krause (SO/Texarkana, TX) put the Eagles on the board first on a single down the right field line plating Shraedon Naeole-Starkey (JR/Molokai, HI) for a 1-0 lead. LSUA returned the favor putting up a three spot in the bottom of the first for a 3-1 advantage.  TAMUT would get two of those runs back scoring a run in both the 3rd and 4th innings. Krause drove in his second run of the game on a ground out to second base, yet again scoring Williams who tripled earlier in the inning.  Hunter Reid (SO/Plano, TX) hit his team leading 6th home run tying it up 3-3 heading into the bottom of the 4th.  The Generals again would answer back, tacking on seven runs over the next three innings.  The Eagles had their chance to get some of those runs back in the top of the 6th loading the bases with only one out but were only able to scratch across a single run as the LSUA took a 10-4 lead heading into the 7th inning.  The Eagles scored single runs in the 8th and 9th innings, however, it would not be enough as the Generals took an 11-6 win.  Krause paced the Eagles at the plate with three hits and two RBIs.  Williams and Reid both recorded two hits while Eric Spencer (JR/Red Bluff, CA) and Giancarlo Mijares (JR/Hercules, CA) knocked in a run.  Collin Fenili (SO/Minooka, IL) took the loss on the mound.  For more on Eagle Baseball and all things Eagle Athletics, log on to tamuteagles.com or follow us on social media outlets at TAMUT_Athletics.  Go Eagles!!
