[Baseball] Eagles Take Three From Jarvis Christian

HAWKINS, TX —  Texas A&M-Texarkana survived a couple of 10-inning thrillers over the weekend against Jarvis Christian Bulldogs in the Red River Athletic Conference. The Eagles jumped out to an early 5-1 lead in the first encounter of the three-game series. Jarvis Christian scored five runs in the fifth inning to capture an 8-5 lead. It was 8-6 in the eighth when Texarkana scored four runs on a grand slam by Ryan Peterson. That 10-8 advantage disappeard in the bottom of the ninth when the Bulldogs scored twice. TAMUT (20-14, 12-6) scored a single run in the tenth for an 11-10 victory. Sean Townsend was the winning pitcher in relief. Giancarlo Mijares led the Eagles with two doubles. GAME TWOThe second game of the series was a cakewalk for Texarkana. Four runs in the first and third innings supported winning pitcher Michael Passariello in the 13-0 rout. Mike Williams, Peterson and Kyle McMullen led the Eagles at the plate with two hits each. Peterson had a triple and single, scoring three runs and driving in another four runs. GAME THREE Jarvis Christian (5-25, 3-14) led 2-1 and 7-3 after four innings. The Eagles rallied with single runs in the seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth to sweep the series. Daemon Rodriguez and Mark Lopez Jr. held the Bulldogs scoreless the final five inning, and TAMUT won, 8-7. Hunter Reid contributed two doubles and a single, scoring once and drive in two runs. Nicholas Tamez added two singles, while Mijares drove in the winning run with a single.  TAMUT will be back in action Tuesday at home against Bacone College.
