[Baseball] Saldias Tough; Saint Xavier Spilts DH with CCSJ

Whiting, Ind. – Sophomore pitcher Nico Saldias (Ajax, Ontartio/Connors State/Pickering) tossed 6.0 innings of shutout baseball, allowing just four hits, two walks and he posted a season-high 10 strikeouts to lead Saint Xavier University baseball (14-18/6-5 CCAC) to a 5-0 victory over Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) in game one of a doubleheader in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action Sunday afternoon in Whiting, Ind. The Cougars could not carry the momentum into the night cap, losing to the Crimson Wave by a 2-1 decision. Junior pitcher Julian Vargas (Tinley Park, Ill./Tinley Park) was the tough-luck loser (2-5), pitching 6.2 innings with six hits surrendered, two walks and striking out four batters.
