[Baseball] SXU Baseball Outlasts Roosevelt in 1-0 Victory

Crestwood, Ill. – On an afternoon where hits were hard to come by, both teams combined for five hits, the Saint Xavier University baseball team (15-18/7-5 CCAC) defeated Roosevelt University by a score of 1-0 in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play Friday afternoon at Ozinga Field in Crestwood, Ill. Senior infielder Patrick Hayes (Chicago, Ill./Moraine Valley/Parkland/Brother Rice) collected both hits for SXU and scored the lone run in the contest. Junior pitcher Julian Vargas (Tinley Park, Ill./Tinley Park) worked 4.0 innings of relief to come away with the win (3-5), while junior pitcher Tzu-Chun Yen (Kaohsiung, Taiwan/Ohlone/Meiho) earned his first save of the season.
