[Baseball] Tigers Collect 27 Hits in Baseball Sweep

Doane Baseball traveled to Hastings on Sunday and completed a sweep of the four-game series by taking two from the Broncos at Duncan Field. The Tigers took game one, 6-2, and game two, 12-4. Doane stands at 17-8-1 overall and 8-0 in the GPAC. Game OneDoane pounded out 14 hits on their way to the win in the opener. The Tigers built a six-run lead before the Broncos plated two runs in the final inning.Doane's first run of the game came in the 2nd inning as Joe Osborn (FR/Hickman, Neb.) opened the inning with a single, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on an error. The Tigers added two runs in the 3rd inning as Andy Theiler (JR/Arlington, Neb.) and Lukas White (SO/Castaic, Calif.) scored. White plated the first run with Jaryn Nakamoto (SR/Aiea, Hawaii) driving in the second run.The Tigers doubled their run total with three in the 5th inning. Skye Harnly (SO/Lincoln, Neb.) started the scoring with a pinch hit double to drive in Brett Meyer (FR/Seward, Neb.) and Osborn. Tucker Catlett (SR/Lincoln, Neb.) followed with a RBI-single to plate Harnly.Four Tigers had two-hit games. Theiler was 2-for-4 with a run scored, Talon Little (JR/Lincoln, Neb.) was 2-for-3, Osborn was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, and Nakamoto was 2-for-4 with a RBI.Jordan Wisner (JR/Anaheim Hills, Calif.) improved to 5-0 on the season as he threw 6.0 innings, scattering two hits and a walk while striking out eight. Thaniel Trumper (FR/Fort Collins, Colo.) threw the final inning, allowing two unearned runs with one strikeout. Game TwoThree runs in the 1st inning set the tone for the Tigers as they picked up 13 hits to go with their 12 runs. Doane broke the game open in the 6th inning as they sent 11 batters to the plate.Theiler opened the game with a double, followed by a walk to White. Little sacrificed the two runners over and they scored on a triple by Osborn. Nakamoto followed with a sacrifice fly to bring in Osborn.Hastings picked up a run in the 3rd inning with Doane scoring a run in the 5th. Trey Adams (FR/Arvada, Colo.) scored on an error after reaching on a single for the Tigers.The Tigers plated five runs in the 6th inning with two outs on the board. Adams drove in the first run with a single to score Nakamoto. Theiler followed with a single to score Meyer, and White singled to drive in Adams. Theiler and White would come around to score on errors.The Broncos plated three runs in the 7th inning to cut the Tiger lead to 9-4. A 6-4-3 double play ended the inning. Doane bounced back with two runs in the 8th as Little and Nakamoto had RBI-singles. Little drove in the final run of the game in the 9th with a sacrifice fly.Five Tigers posted two-hit games. Theiler was 2-for-6 with two runs scored and a RBI. White went 2-for-3 with two runs and a RBI. Nakamoto went 2-for-4 with a run scored and two driven in. Jack Tillman (SO/Omaha, Neb.) was 2-for-5, and Adams was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and one RBI.Kyler Beekman (FR/Elkhorn, Neb.) improved to 2-0 on the year by going 6.1 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits with four strikeouts. White threw the final 2.2 innings, allowing two hits and striking out four.
