[Baseball] Warner Invitational Tournament Ends in 2-3 Record for the Barons

Lake Wales, FL — The first game against number 4 ranked St. Thomas University but lost 14-4.  The Barons were only able to collect six hits in this game, 2 coming from Matt Collins (with a homerun), 2 from Zach Wilson and one from Eduardo Castillo and Jackson Smith (SO/Bartow).  There were a handful of pitchers throughout the game but starting on the mound was Ben Harris who allowed one earned run and 3 strikeouts.  Following him would be Tyrus Cook (FR/Lake Butler, FL), Jacob Johnson (JR/Griffin), Mackenzie McDowell (FR/Thomasville), and Aaron Glenn (JR/Atlanta).  Game two went better against Bellevue University as the Barons fell 8-1. Barons were much better defensively this game but could only score one run in the first inning on a total of 4 hits.  This came from Taz Worrell (JR/Lake Butler) with 2 hits and one hit each from Malik Germany (FR/Grovetown) and Matt Collins.  Trey Jones (JR/Baxley) would start on the mound and allow only three earned runs, with Adrian Comas (SR/Tampa) and Austin Visocchi coming in for relief.Friday started with a game against Judson University and they came away with a 6-3 win.  Charles Dopson started on the mound going 5.1 innings with 7 strikeouts, Tyrus Cook would come in and Carson Mason (FR/Savannah) would finish the game.  They had a great first inning with 4 runs scored and 7 hits throughout the game.  Hits came from Malik Germany (triple), Matt Collins, Ben Harris, Zach Wilson (double), Eduardo Castillo, Aaron Ushery (SR/Riverdale), and Austin Mealor (FR/Guyton).  RBIs came from Matt Collins (2), Zach Wilson (2), Eduardo Castillo (1), and Austin Mealor (1).  The second game of the day was against Warner University and ended in a 4-2 loss. It was a close game and the Barons kept it tied until the bottom of the seventh inning.  Jackson Smith would pitch 4.3 innings only allowing 3 hits, 2 earned runs, and 4 strikeouts.  Adrian Comas would come in for relief pitching 1.2 innings and only giving up 1 hit.  Taz Worrell led the team going 2 for 4 and the other hits came from Malik Germany, Matt Collins, and Eduardo Castillo.  The only game on Saturday was played against Bellevue but the Barons were able to come through with a 3-1 win.  They held Bellevue to only one run and were able to have a breakthrough 4th inning and score their 3 runs on 5 total hits.  Eduardo Castillo would lead the team going 2 for 2 with an RBI, Malik Germany and Ben Harris would each go 1 for 3 with an RBI, and Taz Worrell would go 1 for 3.  There were also doubles from Malike Germany, Eduardo Castillo, and Ben Harris.  Roberto Urena (SO/Loganville) would pitch a great complete game allowing only 3 hits and 1 run.  The Barons next matchup is the beginning of Conference play as they travel to Blue Mountain College on March 19th.  written by: Sadie Rusteika
