Hilltoppers End Season with Home Win Over Wheeling

The West Liberty University baseball team closed out the 2024 season on a high note on Sunday afternoon with a doubleheader split against Wheeling at Kovalick Field, which also secured a 4-game series split for the weekend. Following an 8-3 loss in game one, the Hilltoppers went on to defeat the Cardinals in game two by a score of 10-1. The story of the day was the long ball for both teams, where in the opener it was the WU that used a trio of homeruns, including a grand slam, to power their way to a 5-run win. Then in game two it was the Black & Gold that blasted four over the fence to score ten unanswered for the 9-run victory to end their season in the win column. Additionally, the West Liberty baseball program recognized four seniors prior to today's doubleheader as Greg Geis, Brad Goodyear, Alex Hawkins, and Garrett Scott were honored.
