The Cup heads back to Erie

FREDONIA, N.Y. — The I-90 Cup spent the last three years in Fredonia, but after Penn State Behrend's 6-2 win on Tuesday, it will head to Erie for the time being. Behrend out hit the Devils, 10-6, and took advantage of a trio of errors to claim the win.

?The Blue Devils tallied the first run of the game on an RBI single from Tyler Curtis in the bottom of the first.

Behrend grabbed a 2-1 lead in the second inning, thanks to an RBI single from Spencer Deitz and an error on a pickoff attempt by starter David Adams (0-1). Adams would go two innings, giving up two runs, one earned.

Owen Ludwig would go the next six innings. He would give up just five hits while surrendering three runs, one earned. Leadoff errors in the fifth and seventh would lead to unearned tallies for the Lions.

Derrick Walters entered the ninth and gave up a leadoff homerun before retiring the next three in order.

In the fourth inning, Christain Pagano grounded out to score the Devils' second run, making it a 3-2 game at the time.

?The Blue Devils were led by Curtis and AJ Roach with two hits apiece.

Behrend improves to 18-8, and takes a 7-5 series lead during the Cup Era. The Devils, now 9-16, travel to Pitt-Greensburg on Sunday.
