Zientara's strong start foiled

FREDONIA, N.Y. — Morgan Zientara went seven strong innings and left with a 7-6 lead, but the Devils would surrender 16 runs over the final two innings, falling 22-8 to Oswego on Friday.

To start the eighth, 10-straight batters reached base for the Lakers against three relief pitchers. Nate O'Brochta took the loss, giving up five runs without retiring a hitter to start the eighth.

Zientara struck out five and did not walk a batter. He gave up seven hits, and four earned runs.

Kyle Tedford had two hits for the Devils. Garrett Stuckey hit his fourth homerun and Riley Cardinali hit his first homerun of the season. All nine starers had at least one hit.

Christian Pagano, AJ Roach, Tucker Schwab, and Alex Gannon all doubled.

Christian McCarthy led the Lakers with three hits, including a double and homerun, and six RBI.

The same two teams are scheduled to meet for a noon doubleheader on Saturday.
