[Baseball] Orta Earns RRAC Pitcher Of The Week

Antony Orta, of Jarvis Christian College, mowed down hitters to earn the RRAC Pitcher of the Week honor.  Orta established a new JCC record for strikeouts in a game with 17.  The junior from San Juan, P.R. did not allow an earned run in a 7-1 win over University of the Southwest (N.M.) on Friday.  Orta only walked one hitter in 8 2/3 innings of work.  He is now tied for the RRAC strikeout lead with 44 this season.  The Bulldogs swept the series with USW to climb to 4-2 in the RRAC with a record of 16-9 overall.Additionally, Byron Buckley of Jarvis was nominated for player of the week as he had stellar showings during the week of March 4-10. The Bulldogs continue play this week with 3 home games against Louisiana State University-Alexandria (RV) on Friday at 2:00 pm, Saturday at noon, and game three immediately following.
